A practice built on trust, and kept that way

Who We Are

Perdana Amanah — Family Law in Kuala Lumpur

Perdana Amanah came together in 2009 when a small group of lawyers noticed something missing from the way family matters were handled in Malaysia: space. Space to think, space to ask, and space to choose — without being rushed toward any particular outcome.

We set out to build a different kind of practice. One where clients are heard first, advised second, and never made to feel that they are simply a case to be resolved. Over the years that followed, that approach shaped everything — from how we greet someone at the door to how we write correspondence on their behalf.

Today, Perdana Amanah continues to serve individuals and families across the Klang Valley, covering consultation, separation and divorce support, and child custody and maintenance matters. Our office on Jalan Pinang remains a place where people feel they can speak openly.

Our Core Values

Listen before advising

We take time to understand each family's full picture before suggesting any course of action.

Plain language, always

Legal matters should be understood, not just handled. We explain things in clear, everyday terms.

Integrity in every step

We will not recommend something that does not serve the client's genuine interests, even when a simpler option might be more profitable for us.

Children's welfare first

In every matter involving children, their stability and welfare guide our approach above all other considerations.

Bar Council Membership

All advocates at Perdana Amanah are members in good standing with the Malaysian Bar Council and adhere to the professional rules governing legal practice in Malaysia.

Client Confidentiality Protocol

Client information is stored securely and shared only when required by law or with the client's written consent. Our internal protocols are reviewed annually.

Document Quality Review

Every document we prepare is reviewed by a second member of the team before it is issued, to reduce the chance of errors and ensure consistency.

Client Communication Standards

We commit to responding to client enquiries within one business day and providing written summaries after each significant development in a matter.

Ongoing Professional Development

Our lawyers attend family law updates and continuing education sessions each year to remain current with developments in Malaysian family law and procedure.

Professional Indemnity Coverage

We maintain professional indemnity insurance as required and encouraged by the Malaysian Bar, giving clients added assurance when placing their trust in us.

Family law in Malaysia — what shapes how we work

Malaysian family law draws from multiple legal frameworks — the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 for civil marriages, the Islamic Family Law Enactments for Muslim families, and the specific procedural rules of the courts in Kuala Lumpur. Navigating these layers requires not only legal knowledge but also sensitivity to the personal and cultural dimensions that each family brings to the table.

At Perdana Amanah, we work with clients across the range of circumstances that family law touches — from relatively straightforward separation paperwork to more involved custody arrangements where multiple parties, court appearances, and ongoing communication are required. No two matters are the same, and we do not treat them as if they were.

We pay particular attention to the pace at which each client is comfortable moving. Some people come to us having already spent months thinking through their situation. Others are still in the early stages of understanding what their options might be. Both deserve the same quality of attention, and both receive it at Perdana Amanah.

Our location at Jalan Pinang in central Kuala Lumpur gives us close familiarity with the courts and administrative processes that serve the Klang Valley. That proximity matters in practical terms — it means fewer delays and a well-established relationship with the procedures our clients' matters are likely to follow.
